The origin of the name "growler" has long been debated, but whichever version you choose to believe, the stories are colorful.

Club Growler goes back many years when construction workers would send children to the local pub for a bucket of beer.

Growlers received their name from one of three varying stories.

Either the beer was to quell the growling in the hungry stomachs of the construction workers, or they were named after the sound of the carbonation escaping the lids of the buckets (if they had lids) or if they didn't have lids, the growling was due to the noise the workers gave the kids if the buckets sloshed and lost beer.

You decide where the name originated. As for Club Growler, we are named after the jug from which now beer is transported home from a drinking establishment.

Casey's Uncle Jack was one such kid who transported beer to the workers. He still has his bucket and may show up at various events that Club Growler participates in. Watch for us around town. And watch for the infamous growler!
